Ok "Ace"! Click the "Reply" button to add those "Far Out" terms we
used to communicate when we were seniors.

FlashBack 55 - Our Lingo

If you check your Ivians you will find that we were all "really swell" gals or guys. My kids laugh at that.  Surprisingly, saying "cool" is still in vogue after all these years, so I guess we were using a "cool" expression.  We also used the terms "neat" and "tough" to describe something in a positive way. I still find myself sometimes using those terms. LOL

Some of my 1960s favorite lingo....

Babe - a cute girl or any girl
Badass - someone who is tough, to be feared. Ron Palladay(Jack's brother) was
one of the toughest guys at Manual. Even so when they rode with me to school
Jack always got to ride "Shotgun" (front seat passenger side)
Beats me - not knowing something (applies more and more to me as I age)
Bell Bottoms - I had some of these in double knit. Then they got dried in the dryer
    and became knickers.
Blitzed - drunk (bad memories)
Bummer - a bad time (see Blitzed)
Dude - we still use this one.
Easy Rider - The movie I took Vicki to see on our first date. What a great choice!
Flashback - any sudden memory - what Flashback 55 is all about.
Full of it - a term we can still use to describe our politicians and unfortunately
    sometimes our media.
Hit the Rack - go to bed
Jack - as in you don't know Jack! (nothing) Another term that applies more
    and more as I age.
Lay it on me - tell me or give me something.
Paisley - what ever happened to Madras??
Peace sign - two fingers redefined from victory in war to peace from war.
Peel Out - my wife gets on me when I do this today. She doesn't buy that the
carburetor needs to be cleaned out every now and then!
Scarf - eating really fast
Shades - sunglasses. In the movie "That Thing You Do!" this is the drummer's
nickname. If you havent seen it this is a great movie based in 1964.
Snooze You Loose - if you wait it will be too late. True enough.
Tie-Dye - Best illustrated by Indianapolis' own Rupert Boneham of Survivor fame.

Isn't it interesting how each generation has its own lingo. Today its text abbreviations, Snap Chat  etc. The challenge today is to try to keep up with our grandkids so we aren't to far out of touch.

Ok that's all I have - Gotta grab a brew and Kiss up to the wife. Digwink
