Gary Lee Darland, aged 77, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2023. Gary was born on June 24, 1946 to Ruth (Moore) Darland & Gale Roy Darland. Gary graduated from Manual High School, and then served on the Indianapolis Police Department for 20 years. During this time, he also served in the Indiana National Guard for 10 years earning the rank of Captain.

Gary was a true entrepreneur having 2 retail stores in Greenwood, Indiana. As a very talented woodworker and craftsman, he rehabbed houses and constructed new buildings. His hobby in his later years was to buy closeouts and give to charities.

Gary was preceded in death by his mother, father, brother (Larry Darland), and daughter (Shannon Lucas).

He is survived by his wife (Lynne), son (Ryan Darland), daughter (Kim Gray), nine grandchildren, and his sister (Carolyn Crump).

Gary was known for his wonderful sense of humor and zest for life. He lived each day to the fullest and never gave up hope. Gary was a true warrior.

Calling and services will be held on Friday, October 20th at the Bargersville First Christian Church where he was a member. The church is located at 101 East Street, Bargersville, Indiana. Calling will be from 9:00 am - 11:00 am. The memorial service will follow at 11:00 am.
