Randall "Randy" R. Gosnell
April 10, 1946 - April 27, 2024
Randall “Randy” R. Gosnell, 78, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 27, 2024, with
his wife, Dianna, by his side. Randy grew up on the Southside of Indianapolis and
graduated from Emmerich Manual High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Army shortly
after high school. After his time with the Army was completed, he spent several years in
Florida doing construction throughout the Naples and Fort Myers area. He spent his time in
Florida away from work at local racetracks driving late model stock cars. After moving back
to Indianapolis, his love for racing changed from driver to owner, and the cars changed from
late model stock cars to USAC Sprint and Dirt Champ cars. After stepping away from the
racing scene as a driver and years later as an owner, he decided to join the up and coming
world of video technology. He began working for the National Football League Player’s
Association where he was part of the early stages of developing what later became known
as “instant replay”. Randy then rounded out his career later in life as a local truck driver for
Venture Logistics and then as an oversize load escort driver. On several occasions, he was
fortunate enough to be the escort driver for his son, Scott, who is a specialized oversize
load transport driver.
Randy was proceeded in death by his parents, Hobart and Rosemary Gosnell, and his sister
Cindy. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Dianna, his son Scott and daughter Stacie; his
granddaughter Emily, grandson Tyler and 2 great grandchildren; his brother Mike (Sandy) and sisters
Susie and Laurie (Ralph). Besides family, racing, and football, his other great loves were his furry
four legged grandkids, Jake the Chihuahua and Zeke the Bernedoodle. Randy was loved by
many and will be missed by all.
