Obituary

William F. Lichtenberger 62, of Indianapolis, passed away October 20, 2008. He was born November 11, 1945, in Indianapolis to Frank and Helen Lichtenberger. William graduated Manual High School in 1964. He served as a MP in the Army Reserves. From 1964 to 1966 William was a police cadet. In 1966, he became a police officer for IPD and served for 20 years, having retired from the Police Crime Lab in 1986. William was an avid collector of police memorabilia and historical information and he was a major contributor to the future Indianapolis Police Museum of History. He also enjoyed building hot rods. Survivors include his wife, Frances A. "Skip" Lichtenberger; stepson, Paul T. Jackson; cousin, Melinda M. Pennycuff; aunts and uncles, Bernie and Rosemary (Hogan) Dean, Shirley and William Hogan, and Robert F. Hogan. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, October 24, at G. H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home, 5141 Madison Avenue. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 25, at the funeral home.
