Mary Jane Putnam

65, of Indianapolis, passed away on March 13, 2012. She was born on August 4, 1946 in Indianapolis, IN to the late William Earl and Bessie Putnam.

Mary received her Bachelor degree in Education at Indiana Central College and her Masters degree at Butler University. She taught Remedial Reading and K through 2 in the Indianapolis Public Schools for 34 years with the majority and most recent years at IPS #34. Mary loved teaching children and also had a love for music, especially playing her violin. She was a member of Garfield Park United Church of Christ where she sang in the choir.

Mary is survived by her brother, Gary (Rita) Putnam of Bonstetten, Switzerland; nephews, Gregory and David Putnam; cousins, Carolyn Gibson, Carl Andrews, and Bill Totten.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at G. H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home , 5141 Madison Avenue, Indianapolis, where friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Mary will be laid to rest in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
